Chubby Santa Claus - FREE CROCHET PATTERN

Pattern notes

  • Please make sure to read through the pattern first before you start.

  • This pattern is worked in rounds if nothing else is said.
  • This pattern is worked with yarn under sc – Insert your hook under the top two loops, yarn under, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops. This creates an “x” stitch.
  • I use invisible decrease in my work - Insert your hook in the FLO of the next 2 stitches. Yarn over and pull through 2 of the 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook.

Yarn: #6 Wolans Bunny Baby in - Ruby Red (10058)White (10001), Black (10010)

Yarn: #6 Premier Parfait Chunky - Shell (1150-32)

Yarn: Ricorumi Lamé - Gold (002)

Yarn: Ricorumi Dk - Black (060)

  • Crochet Hook: Clover Amour 3.5mm (When choosing a hook size, remember that everyone's tension is unique. As a result, you may need to experiment with different hook sizes to find the one that works best for you.)
  • Felt beard: 5.5 cm wide, 3.97 cm long
  • Darning needle
  • Polyester filling
  • A pair of scissors
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Working with shell yarn.

Stuff as you go.

Rnd 1: 8 sc in mr (8)

Rnd 2: (inc) x8 (16)

Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x8 (24)

Rnds 5-9: 30 sc (5 rnds) (30)

Change to red yarn.

Bob-5 is made in shell yarn.

Cut the yarn, close the hole using FLO, fasten off the yarn tail.

  • With black (Ricorumi DK) embroider eyes over rnd 7, with 5 visible stitches in between. 

 

Hat

Note: If you tend to crochet tightly, opt for a larger crochet hook for the hat compared to the one you use for crocheting Santa.

Start with white yarn.

Rnds 3-4: 12 sc (2 rounds) (12)

Rnd 5: (dec) x6 (6)

Change to red yarn.

Rnd 6: (inc) x6 (12)

Cut the yarn and leave a long tail for sewing.

 

  •  With gold yarn, embroider a belt buckle

  •  Place the hat on the head, stuff the hat lightly before sewing it on.

  • Glue on the beard.
